0011| RELATING TO TELECOMMUNICATIONS; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF THE

0012| NMSA 1978 TO REQUIRE RATES FOR LOCAL EXCHANGE TELEPHONE SERVICE

0013| TO APPLY WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF ANY COUNTY AND WITHIN

0014| SEVENTY-FIVE MILES OF ANY MUNICIPALITY HAVING A POPULATION OF

0015| MORE THAN FORTY THOUSAND PEOPLE.

0017| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
|
0018| Section 1. A new section of the New Mexico
|
0019| Telecommunications Act is enacted to read:
|
0020| "[NEW MATERIAL] UNIFORMITY OF TELEPHONE LOCAL EXCHANGE
|
0021| SERVICE RATES.--Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the
|
0022| same rates for local exchange telephone service shall apply to
|
0023| calls originating and terminating within a county in this state
|
0024| and shall apply to calls originating and terminating within
|
0025| seventy-five miles of a municipality having a population of
|
0001| more than forty thousand people."
