0011| RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF THE NMSA

0012| 1978 TO REQUIRE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY ESCORT SERVICES TO MEET

0013| CERTAIN STATE REQUIREMENTS.

0015| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0016| Section 1. INTERSTATE ESCORT SERVICES--INSURANCE
|
0017| COVERAGE--STATE TAXES.--
|
0018| A. An interstate highway escort service business
|
0019| shall register with the state corporation commission and submit
|
0020| proof to the commission that the highway escort business has at
|
0021| least one million dollars ($1,000,000) in insurance coverage.
|
0022| The interstate highway escort business shall be required to
|
0023| maintain the insurance coverage in effect at all times it is
|
0024| doing business in New Mexico. An interstate highway escort
|
0025| business shall be subject to New Mexico state taxes.
|
0001| B. For the purpose of this section, "escort
|
0002| service" means a person or other legal entity that operates one
|
0003| or more vehicles in the escort of wide loads or other
|
0004| extraordinary vehicular traffic for the purpose of providing a
|
0005| warning of potential hazards associated with the wide load or
|
0006| other extraordinary vehicle.
