0011|     RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES; REQUIRING THE ISSUANCE OF INSURANCE

0012|     EXCHANGE CARDS; ENACTING A SECTION OF THE MANDATORY FINANCIAL

0013|     RESPONSIBILITY ACT.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|          Section 1.  A new section of the Mandatory Financial
    |
0017|     Responsibility Act is enacted to read:
    |
0018|          "[<u>NEW MATERIAL</u>]  INSURANCE EXCHANGE CARDS.--
    |
0019|               A.  The director shall adopt and promulgate
    |
0020|     regulations requiring insurance carriers to provide insurance
    |
0021|     cards to policyholders to be exchanged with another driver or
    |
0022|     provided to a law enforcement officer in the event of a motor
    |
0023|     vehicle accident.
    |
0024|               B.  The insurance exchange cards shall include, but
    |
0025|     not be limited to, the following information:
    |
0001|                    (1)  the registered owner of the motor vehicle;
    |
0002|                    (2)  a vehicle description;
    |
0003|                    (3)  the vehicle identification number;
    |
0004|                    (4)  the name and address of the insurance
    |
0005|     agent;
    |
0006|                    (5)  the name of the insurance company;
    |
0007|                    (6)  the insurance policy number; and
    |
0008|                    (7)  the policy expiration date.
    |
0009|               C.  Insurance exchange cards containing current
    |
0010|     information shall be provided to policyholders with each new
    |
0011|     issuance of an evidence of financial responsibility card."
