0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO STAFF A PUBLIC DEFENDER'S OFFICE IN

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred fifty thousand
    |
0016|     dollars ($450,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
    |
0017|     public defender department for expenditure in fiscal year 1998
    |
0018|     for the purpose of opening and staffing a public defender's
    |
0019|     office in San Juan county.  Any unexpended or unencumbered
    |
0020|     balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1998 shall not
    |
0021|     revert to the general fund.
