0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE SYSTEMIC INITIATIVE IN

0012|     MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE EDUCATION PROGRAM.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars
    |
0016|     ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board
    |
0017|     of regents of the University of New Mexico for expenditure in
    |
0018|     fiscal year 1998 for the purpose of continuing the New Mexico
    |
0019|     systemic initiative in mathematics and science education
    |
0020|     program to support school improvement in mathematics and
    |
0021|     science education in all grades of public school.  Any
    |
0022|     unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0023|     fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general fund.
