0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO CONDUCT A STUDY PERTAINING TO THE

0012|     ESTABLISHMENT OF A SCHOOL OF VETERINARY MEDICINE AT NEW MEXICO

0013|     STATE UNIVERSITY IN LAS CRUCES IN DONA ANA COUNTY.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred thousand dollars
    |
0017|     ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board
    |
0018|     of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in
    |
0019|     fiscal year 1998 for the purpose of conducting a study to
    |
0020|     determine the long- and short-term operational costs, necessary
    |
0021|     one-time expenditures and capital outlay requirements
    |
0022|     pertaining to the establishment and operation of a school of
    |
0023|     veterinary medicine at the main campus of New Mexico state
    |
0024|     university in Las Cruces.  The board of regents of the
    |
0025|     university shall report the findings and recommendations of
    |
0001|     this study to the commission on higher education and the
    |
0002|     appropriate interim committees of the legislature prior to the
    |
0003|     commencement of the second session of the forty-third
    |
0004|     legislature.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining
    |
0005|     at the end of fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general
    |
0006|     fund.
