0016|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0017|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--One hundred sixty-seven
    |
0018|     thousand dollars ($167,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0019|     fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for
    |
0020|     expenditure in fiscal year 1998 for the purpose of paying
    |
0021|     operational and equipment costs necessary to meet gender equity
    |
0022|     requirements for intercollegiate athletics imposed by Title 9. 
    |
0023|     Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0024|     fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general fund.
