0011|     RELATING TO EDUCATION; ADDRESSING THE TEACHING OF EVOLUTION IN

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0015|          Section 1.  A new section of the Public School Code is

0016|     enacted to read:  
    |
0017|          "[<u>NEW MATERIAL</u>]  TEACHING OF EVOLUTION.--In determining
    |
0018|     public school curriculum policy or prescribing courses of
    |
0019|     instruction for public schools, the state board shall adopt
    |

0020|     curriculum standards for life sciences and earth and space
    |
0021|     sciences that conform with the national academy of sciences'
    |
0022|     national science education standards for life sciences and
    |
0023|     earth and space sciences."
