APPROPRIATIONS.-- | 0021| A. Contingent upon the enactment into law of the | 0022| Family Assistance and Individual Responsibility Act by the | 0023| first session of the forty-third legislature: | 0024| (1) one hundred twenty-eight million dollars | 0025| ($128,000,000) is appropriated from federal funds pursuant to | 0001| Section 901 of the federal Personal Responsibility and Work | 0002| Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, Public Law 104-193, to | 0003| the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year | 0004| 1998 for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of the | 0005| Family Assistance and Individual Responsibility Act. Any | 0006| unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of | 0007| fiscal year 1998 shall not revert; and | 0008| (2) thirty-five million dollars ($35,000,000) | 0009| is appropriated from the general fund to the human services | 0010| department for expenditure in fiscal year 1998 for the purpose | 0011| of carrying out the provisions of the Family Assistance and | 0012| Individual Responsibility Act. Any unexpended or unencumbered | 0013| balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1998 shall revert | 0014| to the general fund. | 0015| B. The appropriation in Paragraph (2) of Subsection | 0016| A of this section, together with other appropriations to the | 0017| human services department, the children, youth and families | 0018| department and the labor department in the General | 0019| Appropriation Act of 1997, shall be used to meet the one | 0020| hundred percent of the maintenance of effort required to obtain | 0021| both the federal temporary assistance for needy families block | 0022| grant and its contingency pursuant to the federal Personal | 0023| Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, | 0024| Public Law 104-193. | 0025| C. The appropriations authorized in this section | 0001| shall only take effect if the Family Assistance and Individual | 0002| Responsibility Act is enacted into law by the first session of | 0003| the forty-third legislature. |
