0016|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0017|          Section 1.  EXEMPTING BATTERED PERSONS OR PERSONS
    |
0018|     SUBJECTED TO EXTREME CRUELTY FROM SIXTY-MONTH LIMITATION.--The
    |
0019|     secretary of human services shall adopt regulations exempting
    |
0020|     from the sixty-month limitation pursuant to the Personal
    |
0021|     Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996
    |
0022|     persons in the family assistance unit who have been battered or
    |
0023|     subjected to extreme cruelty by:
    |
0024|               A.  physical acts that resulted in or threatened to
    |
0025|     result in physical injury to the person;
    |
0001|               B.  sexual abuse;
    |
0002|               C.  sexual activity involving a child;
    |
0003|               D.  being forced as the caretaker of a child to
    |
0004|     engage in nonconsensual sexual acts or activities;
    |
0005|               E.  threats of, or attempts at, physical or sexual
    |
0006|     abuse;
    |
0007|               F.  mental abuse; or
    |
0008|               G.  neglect or deprivation of medical care.
