0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE FOR AN EDUCATION AND CAREER

0012|     COUNSELING SERVICES PILOT PROGRAM.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Seven hundred fifty thousand
    |
0016|     dollars ($750,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
    |
0017|     state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal
    |
0018|     year 1998 for the purpose of contracting for a pilot program to
    |
0019|     expand services for centralized education and career
    |
0020|     counseling, with priority attention given to underserved areas
    |
0021|     where such counseling services are not adequately provided. 
    |
0022|     The appropriation is contingent upon the contractor providing a
    |
0023|     matching amount of nonstate funds and coordinating the pilot
    |
0024|     program with the existing guidance information services within
    |
0025|     New Mexico schools.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
    |
0001|     remaining at the end of fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the
    |
0002|     general fund.
