0011|     RELATING TO THE LEGISLATURE; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE

0012|     LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL SERVICE FOR INTERIM LEGISLATIVE EXPENSE;

0013|     PROVIDING FOR A STUDY.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--
    |
0017|               A.  Eight hundred ninety-five thousand two hundred
    |
0018|     dollars ($895,200) is appropriated from the general fund to the
    |
0019|     legislative council service for expenditure in fiscal year 1998
    |
0020|     for travel expenses of legislators, other than New Mexico
    |
0021|     legislative council members, on legislative council business,
    |
0022|     for committee travel, staff and other necessary expenses for
    |
0023|     other interim committees and for other necessary legislative
    |
0024|     expenses.  
    |
0025|               B.  The New Mexico legislative council shall conduct
    |
0001|     a study on the feasibility of providing permanent staff support
    |
0002|     for the legislative leaders of the house and senate.
    |
0003|               C.  The New Mexico legislative council may transfer
    |
0004|     amounts from the appropriation in Subsection A during fiscal
    |
0005|     year 1998 to any other legislative appropriation where the
    |
0006|     amounts may be needed.
