Section 66-3-414 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1987, | 0017| Chapter 23, Section 1, as amended) is amended to read: | 0018| "66-3-414. SPECIAL REGISTRATION PLATES FOR PURPLE HEART | 0019| VETERANS.-- | 0020| A. The division shall issue special registration | 0021| plates for up to two vehicles to any person who is a veteran | 0022| and a bona fide purple heart medal recipient and who submits | 0023| proof satisfactory to the division that he has been awarded | 0024| that medal. No fee, including the regular registration fee | 0025| applicable to the passenger motor vehicle, if any, shall be | 0001| collected for the issuance of the special registration plates | 0002| pursuant to this section. ~~[Any]~~ A person who is eligible | 0003| for ~~[a]~~ special registration ~~[plate]~~ plates pursuant to | 0004| this section and also eligible for one or more special | 0005| registration plates pursuant to Sections 66-3-406, 66-3-409, | 0006| 66-3-411 and 66-3-412 NMSA 1978 shall be issued special | 0007| registration plates pursuant to only one ~~[special regis-~~ | 0008| | 0009| ~~tration plate of his choice]~~ of those sections, the choice of | 0010| which shall be made by the veteran. | 0011| B. No person shall falsely represent himself to be | 0012| a purple heart veteran so as to be eligible to be issued | 0013| special plates pursuant to this section when he in fact is not | 0014| a purple heart veteran. | 0015| C.
