0011| RELATING TO COUNTIES; INCREASING THE MEMBERS OF COUNTY PLANNING
|
0012| COMMISSIONS IN CERTAIN CLASS A COUNTIES.

0014| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0015| Section 1. Section 4-57-1 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1967,
|
0016| Chapter 150, Section 1) is amended to read:
|
0017| "4-57-1. CREATION OF PLANNING COMMISSION.--
|
0018| A. Any county may by ordinance establish a
|
0019| planning commission. Except as provided in Subsection B of
|
0020| this section, a county planning commission shall consist of
|
0021| not less than five [(5)] members who shall be appointed by
|
0022| the board of county [commission] commissioners.
|
0023| Administrative officials of the county may be appointed as ex-
|
0024| officio nonvoting members of the planning commission.
|
0025| B. The planning commission of a class A county
|
0001| with a population over two hundred thousand as determined in
|
0002| the most recent federal decennial census shall consist of
|
0003| fifteen members. Each county commissioner shall appoint three
|
0004| members from his district."
|
0005| Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the
|
0006| provisions of this act is July 1, 1997.
