0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE

0012|     UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO FOR A PROGRAM FOR MINORITY
    |
0013|     UNDERGRADUATES MAJORING IN ENGINEERING, MATHEMATICS AND
    |
0014|     SCIENCE.

0016|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0017|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand
    |
0018|     dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
    |
0019|     board of regents of the university of New Mexico for
    |
0020|     expenditure in fiscal year 1998 for the purpose of funding a
    |
0021|     program that provides undergraduate minority students with
    |
0022|     academic support services for mathematics, engineering and
    |
0023|     science curricula to enhance students' problem-solving skills,
    |
0024|     encourage academic excellence and improve retention rates.  Any
    |
0025|     unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0001|     fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general fund.                       State of New Mexico
