0012|     PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 2, SECTION 6 OF THE

0013|     CONSTITUTION OF NEW MEXICO TO ALLOW THE LAWFUL CARRYING OF

0014|     CONCEALED WEAPONS.

0016|     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0017|       Section 1.  It is proposed to amend Article 2, Section 6 of
    |
0018|     the constitution of New Mexico to read:
    |
0019|       "No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and
    |
0020|     bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and
    |
0021|     recreational use and for other lawful purposes <s>[but nothing

<s></s>0022| <s>    herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed
</s>    |
<s></s>0023| <s>    weapons]</s>.  No municipality or county shall regulate, in any
    |
0024|     way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms."

0025|       Section 2.  The amendment proposed by this resolution shall
    |
0001|     be submitted to the people for their approval or rejection at
    |
0002|     the next general election or at any special election prior to
    |
0003|     that date which may be called for that purpose.
