0012| REQUESTING A STUDY OF THE USE OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY IN

0013| PUBLIC AND ACCREDITED PRIVATE SCHOOLS.

0015| WHEREAS, New Mexico has long been a leader in establishing
|
0016| equitable funding of education programs; and
|
0017| WHEREAS, for many years the legislature has provided for
|
0018| the distribution of instructional material to public and
|
0019| accredited private school students though the Instructional
|
0020| Material Law; and
|
0021| WHEREAS, American society is becoming increasingly
|
0022| technology oriented; and
|
0023| WHEREAS, as society utilizes technology on an ever-increasing basis, New Mexico must provide for the technological
|
0024| education of its children; and
|
0025| WHEREAS, though traditional instructional materials are
|
0001| provided to students attending public schools and accredited
|
0002| private schools, technology funds through the Technology for
|
0003| Education Act are not provided to private school students;
|
0004| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
|
0005| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the legislative education study
|
0006| committee study the impact and the feasibility of providing
|
0007| Technology for Education Act funds to students attending
|
0008| accredited private schools; and
|
0009| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in its study the legislative
|
0010| education study committee investigate the alternatives available
|
0011| for distributing educational technology to all students in New
|
0012| Mexico; and
|
0013| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the legislative education study
|
0014| committee report and publish its finding by November 1, 1996;
|
0015| and
|
0016| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
|
0017| transmitted to the legislative education study committee.
