0017|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0018|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred twenty-nine
    |
0019|     thousand dollars ($329,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0020|     fund to the board of regents of eastern New Mexico university
    |
0021|     for expenditure in fiscal year 1997 for the purpose of meeting
    |
0022|     costs incurred in establishing a women's softball program to
    |
0023|     meet Title IX mandates for participation in intercollegiate
    |
0024|     athletics.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at
    |
0025|     the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
