0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR

0013|     THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING PATROLS BY STATE POLICE OFFICERS ON

0014|     INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE ALBUQUERQUE CITY LIMITS.

0016|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0017|       Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000)
    |
0018|     is appropriated from the general fund to the department of
    |
0019|     public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 1997 for the
    |
0020|     purpose of providing overtime pay to state police officers so
    |
0021|     that state police patrols on the interstate highways within the
    |
0022|     Albuquerque city limits may be increased.  The appropriation is
    |
0023|     contingent upon the New Mexico state police division and the
    |
0024|     Albuquerque police department entering into a joint powers
    |
0025|     agreement that sets forth the respective law enforcement
    |
0001|     agency's responsibilities for patrolling the interstate highways
    |
0002|     within the Albuquerque city limits.  Any unexpended or
    |
0003|     unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1997
    |
0004|     shall revert to the general fund.
