0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO RESEARCH STATEWIDE LIBRARY STAFFING

0013|     DATA AND EDUCATE SCHOOLS THROUGH TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE; DECLARING

0014|     AN EMERGENCY.

0016|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0017|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Thirty-five thousand dollars
    |
0018|     ($35,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state
    |
0019|     department of public education for expenditure in fiscal years
    |
0020|     1996 and 1997 for the purpose of funding the technical
    |
0021|     assistance program, which would compile and analyze statewide
    |
0022|     library staffing data, compile national research on student
    |
0023|     success and library staffing, disseminate the results statewide,
    |
0024|     serve as an advocate for professional staffing access and
    |
0025|     prepare supportive materials and presentations for applicable
    |
0001|     schools and groups.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
    |
0002|     remaining at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the
    |
0003|     general fund.
    |
0004|       Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary of the public
    |
0005|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.

    |
0003|   committee by November 1, 1996, detailing the benefits of this
    |
0004|   program to the targeted population.".,
    |

    |
0006|   and thence referred to the APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE
    |
0007|   COMMITTEE.
