0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO SUPPORT MATH, SCIENCE, CULTURE AND

0013|     HISTORY EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN THE STATE AND RELATED

0014|     TEACHER TRAINING; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0016|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0017|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand
    |
0018|     dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
    |
0019|     state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal
    |
0020|     years 1996 and 1997 for the purpose of funding the Earth shuttle
    |
0021|     New Mexico program to support scholarships for three hundred at-risk Native American, Hispanic and other middle school students
    |
0022|     to participate in the math, science, culture and history
    |
0023|     experiential education programs in the state and for related
    |
0024|     teacher training.  The appropriation shall be matched by private
    |
0025|     sector contributions.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
    |
0001|     remaining at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the
    |
0002|     general fund.
    |
0003|       Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0004|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.

0002|   committee by November 1, 1996, detailing the benefits of this
    |
0003|   program to the targeted population.".,
    |

0005|   and thence referred to the APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE
    |
