0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ESTABLISH A CENTER FOR BIOMECHANICS

0013|     AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred fifty thousand two
    |
0017|     hundred sixteen dollars ($450,216) is appropriated from the
    |
0018|     general fund to the board of regents of the university of New
    |
0019|     Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 1997 for the purpose of
    |
0020|     establishing a center for biomechanics at the university of New
    |
0021|     Mexico.  The center shall be established to provide specialized
    |
0022|     training for orthopedic surgeons and therapists and improve
    |
0023|     clinical care opportunities to New Mexicans with musculoskeletal
    |
0024|     disorders.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at
    |
0025|     the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.

0022|   a program evaluation to the legislative finance committee and the
    |
0023|   commission on higher education by August 1, 1999 detailing the
    |
0024|   benefits to the state of New Mexico from having this program
    |
0025|   implemented for a three-year period.".,
