0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO RECRUIT AND ASSIST TEACHERS WHO WISH

0013|     TO OBTAIN NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Seven hundred thousand dollars
    |
0017|     ($700,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state
    |
0018|     department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year
    |
0019|     1997 for the purpose of recruiting and assisting qualified New
    |
0020|     Mexico teachers who wish to become certified by the national
    |
0021|     board for professional teaching standards.  No more than four
    |
0022|     percent of this appropriation may be used for administrative
    |
0023|     costs incurred by the department.  Any unexpended or
    |
0024|     unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1997
    |
0025|     shall revert to the general fund.
