0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO COMPENSATE PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS FOR

0013|     ACHIEVING NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Thirty thousand dollars
    |
0017|     ($30,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state
    |
0018|     department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year
    |
0019|     1997 for the purpose of compensating teachers who successfully
    |
0020|     complete the examination for national board certification. 
    |
0021|     After receiving official notice from the national board for
    |
0022|     professional teaching standards verifying the national
    |
0023|     certification of a teacher, the department shall compensate the
    |
0024|     teacher in the amount of four percent of the teacher's salary. 
    |
0025|     Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0001|         fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.                     State of New Mexico
