A MEMORIAL
COMMENDING TEXICO MIDDLE SCHOOL FOR EARNING A 2022 NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL DESIGNATION.
WHEREAS, the national blue ribbon schools program was created in 1982 by then United States secretary of education Terrel H. Bell to bring public attention to the best schools in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Texico middle school in Texico is one of three New Mexico schools honored by the 2022 national blue ribbon schools program; and
WHEREAS, Texico middle school was recognized for the honor by United States secretary of education Miguel Cardona; and
WHEREAS, the national blue ribbon schools program affirms and validates the hard work of students, educators, families and communities in striving for and attaining exemplary achievement; and
WHEREAS, the New Mexico schools were nominated by the public education department for this high national honor for improving student outcomes and closing achievement gaps in their classrooms; and
WHEREAS, Texico middle school principal DeeRae Timberlake attributed the blue ribbon designation to the extensive work of the school's educators and staff; and
WHEREAS, Texico middle school's instructional practices are supported with technology, and every student has access to a school-issued device allowing students to create and explore learning with limitless opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the teachers at Texico middle school build academic relationships with students that create a respectful atmosphere for learning, allowing students to thrive socially, academically and personally;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Texico middle school be commended for being designated a 2022 national blue ribbon school; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the principal of Texico middle school.
