AN ACT
MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO CREATE DEDICATED QUANTUM INFORMATION SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY FACULTY POSITIONS AT THE NEW MEXICO INSTITUTE OF MINING AND TECHNOLOGY, NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY AND THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATIONS--STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER
EDUCATION--QUANTUM INFORMATION SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY FACULTY POSITIONS.--
A. Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the New Mexico institute of mining and technology for expenditure in fiscal years 2024 through 2027 to hire a designated quantum information science technology faculty member. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2027 shall revert to the general fund.
B. Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal years 2024 through 2027 to hire a designated quantum information science technology faculty member. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2027 shall revert to the general fund.
C. Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal years 2024 through 2027 to hire a designated quantum information science technology faculty member. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2027 shall revert to the general fund.
