HOUSE FLOOR AMENDMENT number ___1__ to HOUSE BILL 407, as amended

Amendment sponsored by Representative Janelle Anyanonu

    1. On page 3, between lines 20 and 21, insert the following new subsection:

         "D. If no claimant is found who will assume the cost of burial, the official having charge or control of the decedent shall notify the county, stating, when possible, the name, age, sex, legal next of kin and cause of death of the deceased and any other information obtained that the county could use to conduct due diligence. The county may perform additional due diligence if reasonably determined necessary.".

    2. Reletter the succeeding subsections accordingly.

    3. On page 4, line 3, strike "fifteen" and insert in lieu thereof "fourteen".

    4. On page 14, line 1, strike "fifteen" and insert in lieu thereof "fourteen".

    5. On page 14, line 4, after "years", insert ", or one year for eligible veterans who qualify for veteran burial benefits," and on line 5, after "years", insert ", or one year for eligible veterans who qualify for veteran burial benefits,".
