AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE HIGHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT FOR A SPACE VALLEY CENTER CONTINGENT UPON THE AWARDING OF A FEDERAL GRANT FOR THAT SAME PURPOSE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Contingent upon the New Mexico space valley coalition, led by central New Mexico community college, successfully obtaining a phase two build back better grant awarded by the United States economic development administration through the federal build back better regional challenge, six million dollars ($6,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the higher education department for expenditure in fiscal years 2023 and 2024 for the New Mexico space valley coalition, led by central New Mexico community college, to plan, design, construct, improve, renovate, furnish and equip facilities for a space valley center. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2024 shall revert to the general fund.
