AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE APPROPRIATION CONTINGENCY FUND TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO ASSIST SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN INCREASING SCHOOL BUS DRIVER COMPENSATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Twenty-six million two hundred thousand dollars ($26,200,000) is appropriated from the appropriation contingency fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2023 to assist school districts in increasing school bus driver compensation. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2023 shall revert to the appropriation contingency fund.
