FOR THE LEGISLATIVE HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR A MATCH OF FEDERAL FUNDS FOR AN EXPANSION OF THE SENIOR FARMERS' MARKET NUTRITION PROGRAM.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million one hundred thousand dollars ($1,100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2023 to match with federal funds for an expansion of the senior farmers' market nutrition program to provide vouchers for purchasing New Mexico-grown fruit and vegetables to additional eligible, low-income seniors; provided that not more than five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) shall be used for associated program administration. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2023 shall revert to the general fund.
