FOR THE LEGISLATIVE HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE HIGHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT FOR FINANCIAL AID FOR NURSING STUDENTS AND LOAN REPAYMENT ASSISTANCE FOR NURSES IN ADVANCED PRACTICE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the higher education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2023 for the following purposes:

                (1) three hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($375,000) for financial aid for nursing students pursuant to the Nursing Student Loan for Service Act; and

                (2) three hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($375,000) for loan repayment for nurses in advanced practice pursuant to the Health Professional Loan Repayment Act.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2023 shall revert to the general fund.
