AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT FOR AN OUTDOOR LEARNING PROGRAM TO CONSIST OF AN OUTDOOR LEARNING SPECIALIST, AN OUTDOOR LEARNING ASSISTANT AND HIGH-QUALITY PROFESSIONAL OUTDOOR LEARNING ACTIVITIES AND MATERIALS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated from the

general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2023 for the following purposes:

                (1) two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) for an outdoor learning specialist and an outdoor learning assistant, to be housed at the public education department; and

                (2) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to promote high-quality professional learning activities and materials that focus on creating and expanding outdoor learning opportunities and to provide training and support for public school teachers on outdoor learning protocols and best practices.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining from the items funded in Subsection A of this section at the end of fiscal year 2023 shall revert to the general fund.
