AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY FOOD BANKS STATEWIDE WITH FUNDING TO PURCHASE NONPERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five million dollars ($5,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2022 to provide emergency food banks statewide with funding to purchase nonperishable food items to help combat the increased hunger rates statewide caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2022 shall revert to the general fund.
