AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO FUND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REGARDING SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2018 to provide all teachers and school staff, including administrators, school resource officers, education assistants and substitute teachers, with professional development to effectively work with and meet the instructional needs of students with special needs in the classroom. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2018 shall revert to the general fund.
