    Your CONSUMER AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE BILL 448

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

     1. On page 1, line 11, after the semicolon, strike the remainder of the line and strike all of lines 12 and 13 and insert in lieu thereof "PRESCRIBING THE AWARD OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS IN DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS.".

     2. On page 4, line 8, strike "pets" and insert in lieu thereof "a domestic animal owned as community property".

     3. On page 4, lines 8 and 9, strike "regardless of veterinary or other records indicating ownership", and after the period, insert "If a domestic animal is owned as separate property but is being abused or neglected by the party who is the owner, the court may award the domestic animal to the other party to the proceeding.".,

and thence referred to the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE.
