A MEMORIAL
RECOGNIZING THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF JUDGE CYNTHIA FRY.
WHEREAS, Judge Cynthia Fry has been chosen by the women's law caucus of the university of New Mexico school of law as a 2016 Justice Mary Walters honoree; and
WHEREAS, Judge Fry is being honored as an outstanding woman in the New Mexico legal community to honor the name of former Justice Mary Walters, who was the first woman appointed to the New Mexico supreme court; and
WHEREAS, Judge Fry will be recognized at an awards dinner on February 24, 2016 in Albuquerque; and
WHEREAS, Judge Fry was elected to the New Mexico court of appeals in 2000; and
WHEREAS, Judge Fry received her juris doctor degree from the university of New Mexico school of law in 1981; and
WHEREAS, Judge Fry practiced with Civerolo, Hansen & Wolf, P.A. and Lebeck & Fry, P.A., both Albuquerque law firms; and
WHEREAS, beginning in 1990, Judge Fry maintained a solo practice, concentrating on appeals, and in 1995, Judge Fry was certified as an appellate specialist; and
WHEREAS, Judge Fry served on the supreme court's appellate rules committee and as chair of the New Mexico state bar association's appellate practice section; and
WHEREAS, Judge Fry has had a distinguished career as a jurist; and
WHEREAS, Judge Fry has followed in the footsteps of Justice Mary Walters, first in Judge Fry's years in private practice and later as a member of the court of appeals; and
WHEREAS, Judge Fry represents the very qualities exemplified by Justice Mary Walters: a strong independent judicial voice, a clear and direct style of judicial writing and the utmost civility and integrity;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Judge Cynthia Fry be recognized for her outstanding accomplishments and distinguished career as a jurist; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Judge Fry be congratulated for being chosen by the women's law caucus of the university of New Mexico school of law as a 2016 Justice Mary Walters honoree; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to Judge Cynthia Fry.
