AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE RETENTION OF CERTIFIED STATE POLICE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal years 2017 through 2019 for the retention, through bonus payments that shall not constitute base salaries or wages or be considered to be salary or be used for determining pensions under the Public Employees Retirement Act, of certified law enforcement officers with twenty or more years of actual service credit. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2019 shall revert to the general fund.
