AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF STATE CRIME LABORATORY FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROCESSING SEXUAL ASSAULT EXAMINATION KITS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million two hundred thousand dollars ($1,200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 2017 to increase the number of state crime laboratory full-time employees for the purpose of processing sexual assault examination kits. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2017 shall revert to the general fund.
