Mr. President:
Your PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
SENATE BILL 605, as amended
has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
1. Strike Senate Education Committee Amendment 1.
2. On page 7, strike lines 5 through 16 in their entirety and insert in lieu thereof:
"U. Compensation received by the head administrator of a charter school shall not exceed the lesser of the following percentages of compensation received in the school district in which the charter school is geographically located:
(1) eighty percent of the compensation of the local superintendent; or
(2) one hundred ten percent of the average compensation received by:
(a) non-charter elementary school principals for a head administrator of a charter school the highest grade level of which is six;
(b) non-charter middle school principals for a head administrator of a charter school the highest grade level of which is eight; or
(c) non-charter high school principals for a head administrator of a charter school the highest grade level of which is twelve.
V. A charter school head administrator shall not receive total compensation that exceeds the amount of compensation provided pursuant to Subsection U of this section, regardless of the number of charter schools employing or contracting with the head administrator.
W. As used in this section, "compensation" means gross salary for personal services rendered while on the payroll of a charter school or under contract with a charter school, and other forms of compensation, benefits and additional compensation as defined in the public education department uniform chart of accounts, including stipends, bonuses or incentives that are in addition to standard compensation."".
