AN ACT
RELATING TO PUBLIC ASSISTANCE; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF THE PUBLIC ASSISTANCE ACT TO REQUIRE THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO COVER NEW MEXICO RESIDENTS WHO ARE FORMER FOSTER-CARE RECIPIENTS UNDER TWENTY-SIX YEARS OF AGE, REGARDLESS OF THE STATE WHERE FOSTER CARE WAS RECEIVED.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. A new section of the Public Assistance Act is enacted to read:
"[NEW MATERIAL] FORMER FOSTER-CARE RECIPIENTS--MEDICAL ASSISTANCE COVERAGE UNTIL AGE TWENTY-SIX.--The department shall cover individuals who are residents of New Mexico and who are former recipients of foster care, regardless of the state where the foster care was received, until those individuals reach the age of twenty-six years."
