A MEMORIAL
RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE NEW MEXICO SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER AND DECLARING FEBRUARY 28, 2013 "NEW MEXICO SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER DAY" IN THE SENATE.
WHEREAS, small business development is vital to New Mexico's growth and prosperity; and
WHEREAS, New Mexico celebrates the generations of small business owners who embody the spirit of entrepreneurship and the strong work ethic that lie at the heart of the American dream; and
WHEREAS, small business owners play a vital role in ensuring that America remains the economic leader of the world; and
WHEREAS, small businesses are the lifeblood of New Mexico, which salutes small business owners, entrepreneurs and employees for enhancing communities, urban and rural, and expanding opportunities for all; and
WHEREAS, small businesses help enhance the lives of New Mexico residents and lead the way in economic recovery in New Mexico, distinguished by sustained job creation and growth; and
WHEREAS, the state recognizes the accomplishments of all New Mexico businesses, including the many small businesses that contribute greatly to the economic diversity of New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, entrepreneurs make personal sacrifices every day in the pursuit of the American dream through the free enterprise system offered in New Mexico and the nation; and
WHEREAS, the New Mexico legislature and the state of New Mexico encourage the development of new small businesses for the wealth of all residents; and
WHEREAS, the state, through collaborative efforts, is committed to providing an abundance of resources to assist in the development and growth of small businesses; and
WHEREAS, the New Mexico small business development center has been at the center of small business development since 1989; and
WHEREAS, the New Mexico small business development center has provided assistance to more than ninety-six thousand clients and has assisted in the creation of more than twenty-three thousand new jobs, six hundred forty million dollars ($640,000,000) in capital formation and more than eight thousand new businesses; and
WHEREAS, the New Mexico small business development center is an accredited member of the national organization, the association of small business development centers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico small business development center be recognized for its contribution to the state's economy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that February 28, 2013 be declared "New Mexico Small Business Development Center Day" in the senate; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to Michael A. Rivera, state director, New Mexico small business development center.
