A MEMORIAL

DECLARING MARCH 6, 2013 "ALBUQUERQUE EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTS, CAMPUS ASSISTANTS AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT LIAISONS APPRECIATION DAY" AT THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

 

     WHEREAS, educational assistants, campus assistants and community support liaisons are vital and integral parts of New Mexico's education system; and

     WHEREAS, educational assistants, campus assistants and community support liaisons often serve high-needs student populations, including special education students and students with exceptional behavioral and social needs; and

     WHEREAS, educational assistants, campus assistants and community support liaisons take pride in the rewarding role they play within the education system and work hard to serve those students who need the most assistance; and

     WHEREAS, educational assistants, campus assistants and community support liaisons facilitate instruction by working one-on-one with students in multiple classrooms; and

     WHEREAS, educational assistants, campus assistants and community support liaisons usually are underpaid and under-acknowledged for their crucial role in the classroom; and 

     WHEREAS, there are more than two thousand employees in the Albuquerque public school system who are educational assistants, campus assistants and community support liaisons;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that March 6, 2013 be declared "Albuquerque Educational Assistants, Campus Assistants and Community Support Liaisons Appreciation Day" at the house of representatives in order to acknowledge the immeasurable contributions and hard work that educational assistants, campus assistants and community support liaisons provide on behalf of students and teachers in the Albuquerque public school district; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the governor and the secretary of public education.
