FOR THE PUBLIC SCHOOL CAPITAL OUTLAY OVERSIGHT TASK FORCE

 AND THE LEGISLATIVE EDUCATION STUDY COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE PUBLIC SCHOOL CAPITAL OUTLAY FUND TO ALLOW SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND CHARTER SCHOOLS TO ADDRESS DEFERRED-MAINTENANCE ISSUES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Ten million dollars ($10,000,000) is appropriated from the public school capital outlay fund to the public school capital outlay council for expenditure in fiscal years 2014 through 2016 to provide allocations to school districts and charter schools that demonstrate a need to address deferred-maintenance issues in classrooms or other facilities that are used primarily by students. The public school capital outlay council shall establish guidelines for prioritizing and distributing allocations from the fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2016 shall revert to the public school capital outlay fund.
