AN ACT

RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES; DESIGNATING A SPECIAL MASON REGISTRATION PLATE; ESTABLISHING A FEE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of the Motor Vehicle Code is

enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] SPECIAL MASON REGISTRATION PLATE-- ESTABLISHING A FEE--.

          A. The division shall develop, establish and issue a special mason registration plate celebrating masons and in accordance with the provisions of this section and shall adopt and promulgate rules and procedures for application for and issuance of the special mason registration plate.

          B. For a fee of ten dollars ($10.00), which fee shall be in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fees, any owner of a motor vehicle may apply for the issuance of a special mason registration plate. The owner of a motor vehicle shall apply and pay a fee for a special mason registration plate each year that the owner wishes to retain and renew the plate.

          C. The revenue from the special mason registration plates shall be distributed so that ten dollars ($10.00) of the fee collected for each registration plate shall be retained by and is appropriated to the division for the manufacture and issuance of the special mason registration plate."

     SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is January 1, 2014.
