AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE STATE LANDS MAINTENANCE FUND TO THE STATE LAND OFFICE FOR REDUCTION OF FUEL AND TREE DENSITIES ON STATE TRUST LAND; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Eight hundred ninety thousand dollars ($890,000) is appropriated from the state lands maintenance fund to the state land office for expenditure in fiscal years 2012 and 2013 to reduce the high levels of fuel and tree densities that can fuel wildfires on state trust land. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2013 shall revert to the state lands maintenance fund.
SECTION 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
