AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INTERVENTIONS FOR STUDENTS AT LOW-PERFORMING SCHOOLS WITH GRADES OF D OR F IN SCHOOL YEAR 2011-2012 UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE A-B-C-D-F SCHOOLS RATING ACT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Two million three hundred thousand dollars ($2,300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the following departments for expenditure in fiscal year 2013 to provide programs to assist students who are enrolled in public schools that have been ranked with a D or F grade during the 2011-2012 school year according to the provisions of the A-B-C-D-F Schools Rating Act in the following amounts for the following purposes:

                (1) one million one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($1,150,000) to the department of health for the office of school and adolescent health in the health systems bureau to provide quality behavioral health support services that utilize standards and benchmarks for school-based behavioral health center services; and

                (2) one million one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($1,150,000) to the public education department for school-based, after-school programs that deal with suicide prevention, bullying and substance abuse.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2013 shall revert to the general fund.
