AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE JULIAN SAMORA LEGACY PROJECT AT THE SOUTHWEST HISPANIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2013 to support the work of the Julian Samora legacy project now housed at the southwest Hispanic research institute on the university's campus. The project, named for the first Mexican-American to receive a Ph.D. in sociology in the United States, furthers teaching excellence, leadership development and groundbreaking research initiatives and disseminates the rich primary source material found in the Samora archives. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2013 shall revert to the general fund.
