A MEMORIAL

DECLARING FRIDAY, JANUARY 29, 2010, TO BE "SALUTE TO YOUTH CELEBRATION DAY" AT THE NEW MEXICO HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, the Iota Xi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority has sponsored the Salute to Youth celebration in New Mexico for thirty-three years; and

     WHEREAS, in 2010, the Iota Xi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and the Salute to Youth celebration program recognizes seventeen outstanding young people for their service to the community, their academic success and their promise of excellence in the future; and

     WHEREAS, the New Mexico house of representatives wishes to join the residents of the great state of New Mexico in congratulating these extraordinary high school students, whose pursuit of academic excellence and whose compassion for service to all humanity are unsurpassed;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that congratulations be extended to the 2010 Salute to Youth participants for their exemplary accomplishments; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the parents of these outstanding students and members of the Iota Xi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority be recognized and applauded for their hard work in continuing to encourage these students to achieve goals of excellence throughout their lives; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Friday, January 29, 2010, be declared "Salute to Youth Celebration Day" in the house of representatives and that the participants in the Salute to Youth celebration be known as New Mexico Youth with the Promise of Distinction.
