A RESOLUTION

PROPOSING A HOUSE RULE PROVIDING FOR THE ENDORSEMENT OF HOUSE BILLS, RESOLUTIONS AND MEMORIALS BY SPONSORS AND COSPONSORS.

     WHEREAS, the rules of the house of representatives may be amended by a two-thirds' vote of the members of the house or by a majority vote of the members of the house upon the recommendation of the rules and order of business committee;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the existing House Rule 11-9-1 be recompiled as House Rule 11-9-2 and the following new House Rule 11-9-1 be adopted to read:

"11-9-1   Every bill, resolution or memorial introduced in the house by a member shall be endorsed by the member sponsoring the bill, resolution or memorial, by any member acting as the primary cosponsor of the bill, resolution or memorial and by any other members cosponsoring the bill, resolution or memorial."; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the amendment to the house rules proposed by this resolution take effect immediately prior to the adjournment of the first session of the forty-ninth legislature.
