SENATE MEMORIAL 66

49th legislature - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - first session, 2009

A MEMORIAL

THANKING STATE EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR DONATION OF BLOOD THROUGH UNITED BLOOD SERVICES.

     WHEREAS, United Blood Services regularly seeks donations of blood in order to maintain supplies of every type of blood in an amount that may be needed by an individual or a large group of persons in an emergency; and

     WHEREAS, volunteers who donate blood literally give a part of themselves on behalf of their fellow New Mexicans; and

     WHEREAS, one thousand eight hundred twenty-three New Mexico state employees donated blood during the United Blood Services blood drive in 2008, which saved five thousand four hundred sixty-nine lives, and their neighbors directly benefited from such donations; and

     WHEREAS, the contributions of gallon upon gallon and pint upon pint of blood make all the difference in the adequacy of the supply of blood available at any given moment;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that state employees be thanked and recognized for their generosity in donating their life blood to others through United Blood Services; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the head of each agency that organized a team for blood contributions in 2008.
